How it Started
On April 17th, 1994, Calvary Chapel of Toms River began in the home of the founding pastor, Chris McCarrick. Over the next 7 years, the church grew and moved around to various locations and schools to meet. In March of 2001, an old movie theatre in Howell, NJ became available and the church was officially relocated on December 16th, 2001. The church then manifested as Cornerstone Calvary Chapel and has maintained the Howell location ever since.
Cornerstone Church
Since 2001, Cornerstone Church has continued to serve the community of Howell and surrounding areas through the regular teaching of the Bible, edifying worship and local outreach.
Over the years, the community of Cornerstone has established multiple in-reach and out-reach opportunities to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the local area and beyond. This includes ministries tailored for every age group, community events, local outreach and global missions.
In September of 2025, Pastor Mark Nigro was affirmed as the Lead Pastor, beginning a new season of ministry for the church. With a goal to glorify God and to edify the people of God, the Pastors and Elders continue to lead the church to be a ministry centered on Jesus and to love others as He first loved us.
